Sharing Files and Folders with Slack
The Box for Slack integration enables you to send a Box shared link via Slack without leaving the Box interface. You can use Slack to import content from Box, or share a link to content with Slack. Slack can detect a shared Box link and prompt someone to authenticate their Box account and automatically import Box shared links moving forward.
To install Share with Slack
Sign in to your team’s Box account.
Sign in to your Slack account with your Slack credentials
Add the app and click Add.
Grant Slack access to your Box files by clicking OK.
Using Share with Slack
To share a file directly from within Box, click the file to preview it. In the righthand column that lists third-party applications, click the Slack icon. Then click OK.
You can also do this from your file list. Next to the file you want to share, click the More options button. Select More Actions and then select click Share with Slack. Click Okay to proceed and share the Box file with Slack.

The Share File with Slack window opens. In this window, select the Slack individual or channel with whom you want to share the file with, set a permission level for the file, and, optionally, enter a descriptive comment. (The first time you use this integration you must first click Allow when prompted to permit the integration to access your content.)

Click Share.
The system confirms that you successfully sent your file to Slack.
Note
Files you import into Slack are updated automatically when the corresponding Box file is updated. Imported files are searchable and shareable in Slack, but continue to be stored in your Box account.
